Ken Glasscock has proposed that the WAA membership make a quantity of essentially identical Tic-Tac-Toe board games for presentation to the Arkansas Children’s Hospital at the November 3, 2009 meeting. Ken prepared a sketch showing details of the board game, which can be constructed from 1″x 8″ (poplar) Lumber. A copy of Ken’s sketch is available at Tic-Tac-Toe Board Game for download and printing.
The November meeting of the Woodworkers Association of Arkansas will be at the UALR Furniture Design Studios at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, November 4, 2008. See the October Newsletter for information about the program and about the October 7, 2008 meeting.
The Little Rock ZOO has asked the Woodworkers Association of Arkansas to provide volunteer assistance in repairing and touching up the paint on the historic carved wooden horses used in the ZOO’s “Over the Jumps” carousel. A presentation and discussion on this request will be a part of the program at the October 7, 2008 WAA meeting.
The program for March 3rd, 2008 will be on Pyrography by Lou Everett. Pyrography is the art of decorating wood or other materials with heated objects. For information about our meeting location, click here.
During the last board meeting, it was decided that our web site needed some changes. Below is a list of changes that have been made.
To help you become familiar with the new web site here are some things you should know. On the right side, you will find the following sections.
Some additional information you should be aware of is about the posts themselves. When you are viewing the Home page, posts are listed in the middle portion of the web site and are in an order of newest to oldest. The most recent 10 posts are displayed at one time. At the bottom of the list of posts will be links to navigate to previous posts or newer posts. Depending on how a post was created, sometimes all of the post will be displayed and other times you may need to click on the post Title to see all of the post content. By clicking on the title, you will be navigated to the full post. This post happens to be designed to display all of it at once and you don’t need to click on the Title.
Another thing to know about posts is for each post there is a link at the bottom of the post to comment on the post. This allows you to leave a comment about the post for other viewers to see. In addition, each post has a link that allows you to see a “printer friendly” version of the post.
We hope you will find the new look and the new features of our web site to be beneficial. If you should find that you have questions or problems, please feel free to email our webmaster by clicking on the appropriate link in the Links section.
Happy woodworking and internet surfing!
