Woodworkers Association of Arkansas

The Woodworkers Association of Arkansas is a nonprofit organization. Membership is open to all having interest in working with wood. Since its founding in 1978, the association has held to a membership of about 80 woodworkers from the beginning amateur to the skilled professional. The WAA seeks to improve the craftsmanship of its members through monthly meetings with instructional presentations by members and outside experts. The association also provides service to the community through a toy building program in which toys built by members are distributed to children of various charities. Visitors are welcome to attend the monthly meetings of the association.  

Our club objectives are simple: 

• - To bring together people interested in working with wood
• - To promote and foster an appreciation of fine woodworking to the public
• - To share knowledge and develop skills in all woodcrafts
• - To provide a social outlet for people with a common interest

Monthly Meetings

The monthly meetings serve to educate, inspire, and stimulate people interested in the advancement and growth of woodworking. Talent, skill level, or even owning woodworking tools are not perquisites to joining the Woodworkers Association of Arkansas. Anyone with an interest in this fascinating hobby is welcome to join.  

The meetings are held on the First Monday of the month at 7pm unless otherwise noted. Meetings begin with announcements of woodworking events, show and tell, and other items of interest to members and guest. A featured speaker follows this with topics covering woodturning, wood selection, band sawing, finishing, routers, building dulcimers, toys, sharpening tools, design, and many other woodworking projects. Speakers range from our members to internationally known woodworkers.

Meeting Location

WAA meets at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Furniture Design Studio and Workshop.  It is located in the (formerly) University Plaza Shopping Center at Asher Ave. and University Ave. in Little Rock, Arkansas. Click here for a Google Map
